  • Rinse and sort the dried brown beans to remove any debris. Place the beans in a large bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak overnight, or use the quick soak method by bringing the beans to a boil, then removing from heat, covering, and letting them sit for 1 hour. Drain and rinse the soaked beans.
  • Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and diced beef jerky. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the jerky to release its smoky flavors.
  • Add the soaked and drained brown beans to the pot, along with the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and ground cumin. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
